LahHiree Senior Citizens Home
was conceptualized and built by Mr. Khemraj Nanhu. The
home was officially opened on November 1, 2009.
LaHiree Senior Citizens Home
is a licensed non-profit organization and has
established an eight-room 27-bed home in Tunapuna, with
full time qualified nurses and doctor on call. The
Lahiree Senior Citizens Home concept and operation has
strategic fit with government?s national VISION
2020.
BUSINESS
LOCATION
LaHiree House is located at
#9B Centenary St. Ext, Tunapuna. The major advantage of
this location is that it is 100m off the highway (west
bound lane) in Tunapuna so that access is excellent. The
area is very quiet and peaceful. The area does not
flood, and in any event, the land on which the building
is built has been raised by over 1m above road level.
Drainage is excellent. The main drain is over 1.5m wide
and about the same
dept.
Other Features of the Home
To date four (4) ramps for
wheel chair access have been completed and all toilets
and bathrooms have been fitted with handrails. There is a
specially constructed passage way for an ambulance to
enter and exit the building. In addition fire and safety
equipment have been installed. Each room is equipped
with smoke detectors, there are fire extinguishers,
alarm and emergency lighting system should the need
arise. Each bed also has a buzzer facility to alert
staff if none is nearby at the point in time. Each bed
is also railed for the additional safety of our
residents.
ORGANIZATION AND
MANAGEMENT
LaHiree House will be guided
by existing legislation and regulations established by
the Government of Trinidad and Tobago as contained in
ACT #20 of 2007. The attendant Regulations, 2009 will
form the basis for the policies and procedures in the
management of the business.
LaHiree House is a new
business but is managed by a team with over one hundred
(100) years (collective) business experience that ranges
from home health care, senior citizens home, accounting
and business
development . Daily care operations at LaHiree
House will be managed by an experienced retired
nurse/nursing instructor in the capacity of Matron. The
latter will be supported by a day and night Nurses and
Nurse?s Aides (tilted: Personal Care Assistants) for
each shift.
The management of the
business includes but is not limited to; The Manager of
the facility has acquired a MBA from the Arthur Lok Jack
Institute of Business. A Board of Directors, led by the
Managing Director with a MSc in Accounting from UWI, St.
Augustine provide overall leadership for the
Home. |
